As part of its Go for Gold campaign, the Public Affairs Section in Tokyo sponsored a skate clinic and speaking program with 2010 Olympic figure skating gold medalist Evan Lysacek, Feb. 20. Held at Bank of Yokohama Ice Arena, this was Lysacek’s last stop on a four-city visit, which included stops in Hanamaki, Osaka, and Nagoya. In Yokohama, Lysacek taught approximately 200 skaters of all abilities and shared his Olympic experience and advice for overcoming challenges. Lysacek attracted local and national media at each of his programs. Go for Gold is Mission Japan’s initiative using the Olympics and Paralympics to promote study in the U.S.
